Sleepless in Somerset!

"They" tell me that blogs are "a  great way to build a community around your product and your brand"! For me it's also a great way to while away the wee small hours when my ADHD brain is at its most active and creative. So if like me you struggle with keeping a regular sleep pattern and could do with reading some mindless musings to help you drift off, or if you just want to see what really drives the creativity behind "Get The Folk Art" (and you can do that whenever you choose - day or night!), jump aboard this crazy train.

One thing "they" didn't tell me about starting up an online business is the number of cold call emails we'd get from people trying to sell us marketing advice to help "grow" our business! I'm not usually one to harp on about the "good old days" but there's something to be said for a handwritten note on your front door saying "no hawkers or pedlars". 😄 There is of course the option to send back an automated response saying "thanks but no thanks". (Not necessarily the exact phrase I would choose to use, but apparently I have to remain polite and professional!!) But when some of them see any response as an opportunity to engage, and don't take "NO" for an answer, it somehow feels like the techie  equivalent of jamming their foot in the door, and that's just plain rude! (Not to mention a little violating, to my hyper-sensibilities!) Surely "No means No" applies to any and every social context?!

And apart from anything else, I don't want to "grow" my business! At least not in the profit driven, capitalist sense. I would rather "nurture" my business, like a lovingly tended Japanese Bonsai. And I bet there's not a single entrepreneurial marketing company out there that's ready to take on that as a business concept!

Oh my! When did I turn into a grouchy, post menopausal (I may have answered my own question there😄) opinion-ista?!? Thank god I've got my crafting to keep me sane and out of trouble! 🤯
